Don't Judge Me By How I Look
70Part 2 of Things you should know
I have a poster in my sun-room of a famous rapper (Tupac) that says, "Only God Can Judge Me". I bought that poster for my partner because he loves Tupac, but I love the poster because it says exactly how I feel.
No one can judge me but God, yet everyone has judged me for one reason or another. I know it's human nature to look at someone and because of how they dress, talk or whatever, we conclude things that are usually far from the actual truth about the person. I understand that, but I challenge people to work hard at not doing that.
I've started to talk to people that look nothing like me, and even speak a different language. We may not be able to speak, but a nod or a smile can mean a great deal to a person. I once met a stranger that said that just by me smiling he forgot the awful morning he was having.
The late great Martin Luther King Jr. said it best, "may we not be judged by the color or our skin, but by the content of our character." I love that speech, because it was for everyone, not black, not white, Jewish, Christian, whatever, but for everyone.
I may look a certain way one day and change that totally the next, but who I am inside my soul is consistent and it rocks. I'm a great friend to know so why miss out because I'm not wearing designer clothes, speaking a certain way, not the same color as you or the same beliefs as you. Just get to know a person first. If you look at me and judge me by what I'm wearing, or how I talk (the east coast speed shines thru!!) then you'll miss the blessing of seeing me smile and therein lies the joy.
I pray for peace and equality for all people and for more love to come forth. If we don't reach out to each other more and stop judging based on color, religion, sexual orientation our world is headed to a dark place that we may not survive in. Not meaning to preach, I just want to show love and spread the good vibes to everyone. The world is changing quickly and not for the better, so I want to encourage people to "get their house" in order and love more and judge less. Leave the judgement to a higher spirit.
